2014 Honda Accord – A package sure to please many buyers

The 2014 Honda Accord is a sexy vehicle, and at the very least, a very intriguing one to consider.

Honda’s midsize sedan has garnered a lot of attention due to its stylish exterior, its roomy, comfortable and high-quality interior, along with its good performance and fuel economy ratings.

The Accord lineup has grown to offer two hybrid models, in addition to being available as a two door coupe. All in all, there are 4 engines offered in the Accord family as well as two body styles. That means the Accord is basically able to please any type of buyer. It is a car to appreciate, especially for consumers that are searching for a model that provides quick acceleration, responsive handling, and a composed ride.

Honda’s midsize sedan is available with a starting price of $23,990 MSRP, and comes in six different trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, Touring, EX-L V6, and Touring V6 models. The 2014 Accord comes equipped with a 2.4-litre, direct injection, 4-cylinder engine. With it, one can expect a total output of 185 horsepower, and 181 pound-feet of torque.

The top EX-L V6 and Touring V6 models are equipped with a more powerful 3.5-litre V6 engine. This version will produce a whopping 278 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque that should please most drivers.

The 2.4-litre engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that is standard on LX, Sport, and Touring models. Buyers can also opt for a more fuel efficient Continuously Variable Transmission that is available on the same trim levels, and standard on the EX-L. Finally, a 6-speed automatic is standard on the top EX-L V6 and Touring V6 models. Steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters are also worth considering, and are available (with the CVT) on the Sport trim.

All versions include an ECON mode button to help with fuel efficiency, and of course, only regular fuel is recommended. Consumers that opt for the 2.4-litre engine coupled with the CVT transmission can anticipate consumption ratings of 7.8/5.5 litres per 100 kilometres (city/hwy). Opting for the V6 engine will also provide a decent fuel economy rating when in the city (9.6 L/100km), and a low consumption rating when on the highway (5.7 L/100km).

In terms of comfort and convenience features, the 2014 Honda Accord sedan includes an active noise cancellation and sound control system to maintain a relatively quiet cabin, along with available dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth with hands-free calling, and heated front and rear seats, depending on the trim. The EX-L to the Touring V6 models also come with standard “driver’s seat positing memory,” which will come in handy if there is more than one person driving the car. Additional elements such as satellite radio, the HondaLink system, and steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls are also available, again depending on the model.

The 2014 Honda Accord family has also garnered the TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Some of the safety features to opt for based on the trim level are Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, LaneWatch (Honda’s blind spot system), and either the rearview or multi-angle backup camera. A navigation system is available with the Touring model.
