10 million Honda Accords have been produced in America and shipped worldwide since the Accord became the first Japanese car to get a production plant in the United States, in 1982.
Some of you will remember, others will be surprised: when it first launched, 40 years ago, the Honda Accord was a three-door compact hatchback with a wheelbase shorter than today’s Fit! If today it has secured a strong player position in the mid-size sedan segment, the Accord has success written all over its legacy. Over 13 million Accords have sold in the United States only and despite being Japanese, the Accord also has some American blood! Over the course of 40 years, the model has increased in size, making room for the smaller Civic and Fit, however, it remains this great car all around, now in a format that’s convenient for the whole family.
10 million Honda Accords have been produced in America and shipped worldwide since the Accord became the first Japanese car to get a production plant in the United States, in 1982. Over three decades later, the model is established as one of the best offerings and the best selling model in the segment in Canada. The key to its enduring success, almost half a century later? Adaptation. The vehicle has evolved and adapted to the needs of its clients. 2017 will be no exception with a broader Accord lineup with a trim level and a powertrain to match every desire. And this summer, there will be even more versions of the Accord to choose from!
Last year established new guidelines in terms of new design; the Accord gained a more chiselled, elegant and mature look with an Acura inspired chrome lined grille, LED pods headlights and muscular fenders. Joining the family this year, sporting the same modern new look are the returning Accord Hybrid and the all-new Accord Sport Special Edition. Including the standard equipment such as HandsFreeLink with Bluetooth connectivity and wheel-mounted controls, SMS and e-mail function, satellite radio, adaptive cruise control, wireless device charging, navigation, proximity key, the Sport Special Edition also comes with edition-specific badges and heated seats with contrasting red stitching. It will also be available with the Honda Sensing Suite as well as a flight of safety features and driver assists, including forward collision warning, lane departure warning and collision mitigation braking system.
The Sport edition will be available with the 2.4L, four-cylinder engine. Should you require more power or more sportiness, the Accord is also available in a two-door layout or with a 3.5L V6 engine. The 2017 Honda Accord has upped the ante and is now offered in more versions than ever. Lallier Honda in Repentigny is the place to be to learn more about Canada’s favorite mid-size sedan.
