The Honda Odyssey's reputation for reliability and versatility has long been established, and now Honda is making a comeback with the all-new 2018 Honda Odyssey unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this month. Slated to arrive on the market later this spring, the new 2018 Odyssey promises to be even more versatile and family-friendly while offering unique and exclusive safety and connectivity technologies.
A more efficient engine for the 2018 Honda Odyssey
The many changes made to the 2018 Honda Odyssey begin under the hood where the new minivan gets a 3.5-liter V6 engine developing 280 horsepower, 32 more than the current Odyssey’s V6 unit. This engine will be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission in most versions while the high-end Touring trim will feature a sophisticated 10-speed automatic transmission. These new gearboxes combined with a lighter design and a more efficient engine should return impressive fuel economy numbers.
Three new unique technologies in the 2018 Honda Odyssey
The 2018 Honda Odyssey is equipped with three new exclusive features starting with the new CabinWatch system that allows the driver to keep an eye on the passengers in the back using a camera. The new CabinTalk technology makes it easier to talk to passengers in the back using the speakers or headphones in the entertainment system. Finally, the CabinControl system controls the heating, navigation system and rear entertainment system through a mobile application installed on our smartphone.
The new rear-seat entertainment system in the new 2018 Honda Odyssey is integrated into a 10.2-inch screen that has received several improvements starting with a new 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity capability that makes it possible to stream videos on the web. There is also a new feature called "How Much Farther?" which allows passengers in the back to track the family trip’s progress.
The 2018 Honda Odyssey will also offer several driver assistance technologies, including Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS™), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
The Odyssey will also feature a new technology called Magic Slide integrated in the middle row of seats. This new feature offers four positions, and aims to improve the comfort of the occupants, make the passenger compartment more versatile and facilitate access to the last row of seats.
