Honda at the Montreal Auto Show: the Clarity hybrid confirmed

Japanese manufacturer Honda will be one of the most prominent manufacturers at the Montreal Auto Show with several new models including the spectacular Honda Civic Type R prototype, the all-new 2017 Honda CR-V and the rest of Honda’s popular lineup that includes the spacious Fit subcompact, the Honda Accord sedan, the all-new Honda Ridgeline and the versatile Honda Pilot.

The Montreal Auto Show will also be an opportunity for consumers to discover Honda's new Civic Hatchback, the first hatchback Honda Civic offered in Canada for more than a decade.

A new fully hybrid model will be offered by Honda

On the sidelines of the Montreal International Auto Show, Honda announced the arrival in Canada of a brand new plug-in hybrid model called Honda Clarity, which will go on sale at the end of 2017. Thereafter, another new hybrid-only model will be launched in 2018.

These two new models are part of Honda's strategy to offer more vehicles with electric engines over the next few years.

"Honda Canada announced today that its pace of new product launches would reflect the US strategy as we prepare to introduce new electrically-powered vehicles into the Canadian market," said Jean-Marc Leclerc, President, Sales and Marketing of Honda Canada Inc.

Honda wants two-thirds of its worldwide sales by 2030 to be made up of partially electric vehicles.

Few details were announced regarding the new hybrid plug-in model, but Honda announced that the hybrid vehicle scheduled for 2018 will be powered by the same dual-engine system currently powering the Honda Accord Hybrid. The latter features an average fuel consumption rating of 5.8 liters per 100 kilometers.
